Wind Cave, Jewel Cave and vicinity, South Dakota

After Mt. Rushmore still remained in the area and there we saw two caves - Wind Cave and Jewel Cave (windy and jewels). Both had interesting things to offer. They were also pretty cool - around 8-10 degrees Celsius.

Mt. Rushmore, South Dakota

Next stop during our journeys through mountain was called Mt. Rushmore. It may not necessarily associate the name people, but this is where a group of people under the command of a Danish immigrant had a special penchant for blasting rock with dynamite. So they enjoy it, with over 14 years (6.5 of the actual work - was missing sometimes money to continue the project) have worked on this unknown to anyone gora. In 1941, finally showed the world what you have:

Apparently 90% of the work was already done with dynamite, and the rest a variety of pneumatic drills and so on. Great fun, no?

George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. It is noteworthy that Roosevelt has glasses, what you really did not throw in the face:

Badlands National Park, South Dakota

Our next trip was a place called the Badlands National Park National Park in South Dakota. This was some 2.5 hours from Devils Tower.

This is a very interesting place - sedimentary rock, characterized by a prominent sedimentary layers (was it used to be bottom of the ocean), later weathered the effects of weathering. Sa result of this deep valley cut out of the rock pillars between the more resistant rocks.

We spent two days there - it was hot (near 40 degrees), but in the afternoon we spent a lot of time soaking in the pool at the campsite.

's how landscape depicted as we got there:

And here we went to the family of short passage in the rocks, which required output such as after such a ladder:

Devils Tower, Wyoming

On the first weekend of August we left for a week to ride a little after the United States. Especially we depended on the passing places, which you do not yet have seen so far, and at the end and so has been little time for us to visit again our favorite site of Yellowstone National Park. No but this is already one of the next blogs.

first day we arrived to the village of Billings, Montana (about 9 hours with breaks coming from Calgary). There sure I wanted to buy a camera, because I went to our previous well-deserved retirement after a small shock treatment during our stay in Poland this spring. In Canada, electronics today is exactly as it is quite expensive and is worth the effort to do this type of shopping in the U.S., taking advantage of strong location of our dollar against the American.

After buying a fairly nice and handy camera with 10MP Casio and a few other things (girls, could not forgive myself, of course, other ciuchowych purchases), we drove 4 hours continue the glorious gore already Devils Tower, Wyoming. When someone once watching the movie "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," or "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" in Polish, then the action waged around in there quite charaktrerystycznej top of the shape of a cylinder erected along the top axis.

This amazing shape owes this gora ago that she was once a means bigger volcano. When you froze in the middle of the scale of metamorphic volcano, it turned out to be the most resistant to erosion. Niegdyjszego volcano walls crumbled in August under the influence of weathering, but this "volcanic plug" there still lies. I seems that there still a little pobedzie. This is the perfect place for rock climbers - the simplest route to the summit (300 m high to output) difficulty is 5.6, so that no longer for "waiters." Well, maybe there will come to choose the Leszek and "zaloimy" the wall ...

here our first look at the gore when we reach to the target is slowly:

And here already, in turn, the next day morning at the campsite sip coffee in August this saturating lovely perspective.
